There are strong indications that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may again postpone its national convention scheduled to hold on March 26, 2022.

This is as the ruling party is reportedly not selling forms for its elective positions twelve days to the national convention.

Despite the fact that APC had announced its zoning formula wherein it zoned the office of its National Chairman to the North Central and the office of the National Secretary of the party to South-West region, source quoted by the Punch said the party was yet to commence ticket sales for aspirants.

The APC chieftain who craved anonymity said there is a huge uncertainty on whether the convention will holding as scheduled. The source also noted that they party is still grappling with leadership crisis which has divided the APC into two.

The source added that the leadership situation of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the party has divided the governors with some pledging allegiance to Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state while others are behind Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state.

“By now, the governors ought to have started meeting with chairmanship aspirants with a view to getting some of them to step down. But because they are now divided into separate camps, they cannot agree on anything. There has been no negotiation with any chairmanship aspirant.

“They are not even selling forms yet. About 20 committees headed by governors were set up last week. None of them has started anything meaningful and we have just 11 days to go. As things stand, it is doubtful if the March 26 convention will hold. The three most important figures in the convention are the President, the party chairman and the national secretary and the three of them are not available at the moment,” the source was quoted as saying.
