A former Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in Ondo State, Yekini Olanipekun, has declared his intention to vie for the governorship race in the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

 

Olanipekun, who made this known in Arigidi-Akoko, Akoko Northwest local government area of the state, said the delivery of good governance was the major drive for his ambition.

Olanipekun, also a former member of the state House of Assembly, noted that with his experience in public offices, he would deliver good governance to the people.

He added that having headed the ministry that handled the affairs of the youth, which constitutes a major part of the society, he is better placed to formulate and implement policies and programmes that would be beneficial to them.

“We will ensure that ministries function very well and there will be a special consideration for people with special needs like the less privileged, orphans, the unemployed among others”, he stated.

 

Speaking on the zoning of governorship ticket of the PDP in the state, he said it would be in the interest of justice, fairness and equity to allow the northern senatorial district to present the party’s candidate.
