Five officers and soldiers including the unit’s Commanding Officer that were declared missing in action after they were ambushed by a group of Boko Haram at Guro Gongon in Borno State have been found.

Confirming the report Acting Director Army Public Relations Col Sani Kukasheka Usman said concerted efforts initiated to search for and rescue the missing soldiers which include the use of air assets, Special Forces and patrols found 5 more officers and soldiers. “We wish to inform you that the search party has this morning found 5 more officers and soldiers that were declared missing in action, including the unit’s Commanding Officer” Usman said.

The Army spokesman said the soldiers are in a stable condition, have been moved to our Medical facilities for medical care.

Theatre Commander Major General Leo Irabor on Friday confirmed that 3 officers and 16 soldiers still missing.
