The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party has appointed Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state as the Chairman of the party’s National Convention Committee.

This decision was reached at the 93rd NEC meeting of PDP which held in Abuja on Thursday and presided over by the Acting National Chairman of the party, Yemi Akinwonmi.

The NEC, during the meeting also appointed Senator Douye Diri, as the Deputy Chairman of the National Convention Committee while, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state was appointed as the Secretary.

The party NEC also appointed the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state as the Chairman of Zoning Committee, while Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State was appointed as the deputy chairman. The Zamfara state deputy governor, Barr. Mahdi Aliyu Mohammed was appointed as Secretary of the committee.

Similarly, the NEC scheduled the party’s national convention to hold on October 30.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Fintiri expressed delight at the mandate given to him by the party. The governor assured that he will work with the other members of the committee to deliver a free and fair national convention that would elect a credible leader for the party.

Fintiri also confirmed that the national convention would hold in Abuja, adding that efforts are ongoing to secure the Eagles Square as the venue for the convention.
