FIFA President Gianni Infantino was present at the opening game of the maiden Aisha Buhari Invitational Women Football Tournament which kicked off on Wednesday at the remodelled Mobolaji Johnson Arena-formely Onikan Stadium in Lagos state Nigeria.
The FIFA President had landed at the Lagos Airport today few hours ahead of the opening match between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Female Eagles of Mali.
Also present at the opening match are; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, FIFA Secretary, Fatma Samoura, among others.
The Super Falcons got to a good start with a 2:0 win over their Malian counterpart. Gift Monday scored in the 83rd and 89th minute.scored two late goals to ensure the Super Falcons secure all three points.
Her first goal came from a header off a cross from superstar Asisat Oshoala. Her second came after she made it first to a flicked header in the box before lobbing the goalkeeper.
The Falcons will be back in action on Tuesday, September 21, when they take on South Africa at the same venue.
Aisha Buhari Invitational tournament is an association football tournament organized by the Nigerian football federation for the female national team, in honour of the First lady.
