Senator Ede Dafinone, the lawmaker representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has endorsed Hon. Blessing Achoja of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the State House of Assembly rerun in Delta, scheduled for February 3, 2024.

Senator Dafinone was among the bigwigs in the APC in the district who joined the campaign train to support Hon. Achoja during their visit to Oghara Ward 7 and Ward 8 in Ethiope West Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Friday.

In a statement released by Senator Dafinone’s Media Unit, the lawmaker declared his full support for Hon. Achoja.

He called on voters to turn out in large numbers and elect the party’s candidate.

According to the statement, “Senator Dafinone urged voters to turn out in large numbers on election day. He asked them to spread the message to their neighbours, relatives, and friends, emphasizing the APC as the right choice for the upcoming State House of Assembly rerun elections.”

The Senator was accompanied by notable personalities such as Olorogun (Barr) Adelabu Bodjor, Chief Wilson Omene, Hon. Kevwe Agbroko, Engr. Peter Oputu, Evangelist Sunny Sawor, and others.

The rerun in Delta State is one of several reruns that will be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on February 3, 2024, in some states across the country.

It would be recalled that in the March 18, 2023 poll, Hon. Achoja, who contested alongside Mr. Christian Onogba on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared the winner of the election.

Dissatisfied with the outcome, Mr. Onogba headed to the Delta State National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba to challenge the result.

The three-man tribunal panel, led by Justice W. I. Kpochi, ordered the electoral umpire to conduct a re-run election in 39 polling units where the election was canceled across Wards 1, 2, 6, 7, and 8 in Ethiope LGA within 90 days.
