The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Alhaji Babatunde Fashola was in Akwa Ibom on Monday to commission some power project as well as meet with power distribution companies around the southern region of the country.

In a visit to Gov. Udom Emmanuel at governor’s office, the minister disclosed that various power facilities will receive boost with the clearance of power equipment at ports and more investment come 2017.

Babatunde Fashola, said his visit to the state was to work out ways for the completion of the power distribution sub-station at Ikot Ekpene and Itu Local Government Areas. The minister confirmed that most of these power projects were stop for lack of payment but funds has been released under Buhari administration.

Alhaji Fashola assured that the power sector has been repositioned to enhance steady supply of electricity in the country.

He used the occasion to commend Akwa Ibom State Government for its investment in the power generation plant and intervention in the rehabilitation of federal roads. Fashola assured that refund of funds spent on federal roads by state govt would soon be paid.

Gov. Emmanuel commended the minister tract record of achievement and hope that Akwa Ibom would benefit from investment in the power sector. Gov Udom used the forum to invite Fashola to State organized Christmas Carol on 17 Dec. 2016
