The family of late Mrs. Ifeoma Ada Kalu are currently on warpath with their son’s in law, former Abia State Governor, now Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for burying his late wife, their daughter in North Carolina in the United States of America.

Family of Ifeoma wailed that it was a taboo to bury their daughter outside their ancestral home as Orji Kalu committed the “sacrilege” without their consent.

The Senate Chief Whip admitted this much while paying tribute to his amiable late wife, Ifeoma in a funeral service held at the New Home, AME Zion Church in South Carolina.
Kalu said the decision to bury her in the United States of America was made by Ifeoma when she was alive.

He said that as a husband, he was only fulfilling her wish.

While expressing appreciation to the Bishop of the church, Kalu said: “This is her chosen church because I’m a Catholic. We would have buried her in a Catholic church but this is what she wanted.

“She told her children that when she dies, she should be buried here. This is why we are here. We would have flown her back to Nigeria.

“People in our villages are fighting us why we didn’t bring her corpse back home for the traditional funeral rites to be performed. But we shall overcome all we have done in the past,” Orji Kalu said.

It was reported that the bereaved Orji Kalu who was spotted with his children and selected members of his family all decked in mourning black outfit, held an open casket viewing ceremony for the late wife at the McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, North Carolina in the United States of America, USA.

However, as at press time, family members of the deceased would not be reached for comment.

It would be recalled that Ifeoma tied the nuptial knot with her heartthrob, Orji in December 1989 in the hubby’s home town, Igbere in Abia State.

The union is blessed with children.
