FG tracks details, Beams Searchlight on Okowa’s Houston’s N3Billion Mansion!
After facing a crushing humiliating defeat by the All Progressive Congress,APC, in the February 25th 2023 Presidential election, outgoing Governor of Delta State and PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has bought a N3 Billion palatial mansion in Sugar land, Houston Texas in the United States of America to relocate his family like the case of former Anambra state Governor, Chief Willy Obiano, after plunging the state into N850 Billion unavoidable debt despite repeated denials by his media aides.
Further checks reveal that Governor Okowa has concluded deals and arrangements with oil tycoons in the oil-rich Houston area to launder his loot from the country knowing that his choice for governor will be roundly rejected by the people after his eight years of misgovernance.
Meanwhile, the federal government through the office of the Attorney General and other security agencies are beaming search light and tracking the details of the Houston Texas property just as Governor Okowa is secretly making arrangements for another loan of N10 billion as cash crunch hit their campaign.
Even with truckloads of state funds stolen and spent for the purpose of the presidential election, Okowa lost the election in his own backyard and had to resort to rigging the process of collation in his usual ways to declare himself the winner.
It is on record that in eight years, Okowa borrowed N850 Billion Naira and wasted N4.3 Trillion Naira monthly federal allocation to the state excluding Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and 13% derivation funds yet he wants to impose his stooge on Deltans to cover his tracks.
According to the Delta State People’s Solidarity Movement, ” in eight years of Okowa’s government, the unceasing assailment of the state treasury, disregard for financial regulations, abuse of public trust, cronyism, and the utter refusal to heed public service rules, has characterized the practices of Delta State government. We have, with deep regret and sadness observed all these happen in our dear state in eight agonizing years.”
The group further noted that:” The Delta State House of Assembly has by measures of it’s own performance, become an extension of the governor’s office, with the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly as glorified footmen and valets to the governor. This sorry situation is examplified shamefully in the speed the said House of Assembly provides endorsements and approval to the governor’s unending applications for loans and his obvious determination to sink the state in unpayable debt.
” It is obvious to the citizens of the state that the compelling reason for the Speaker’s acquiescence to Okowa’s impudent pursuit of debt peonage, apart from hand-outs to himself,is the promise to handover the reins of government to the Speaker as next governor of the state. But Okowa has neither the powers nor the popularity to win election for Sheriff Oborovwiri in Delta State. There are protests now across the state against borrowing to prove the point.
” The multi billion Naira borrowings approved by the Speaker for governor Okowa is crumbling the finances of the state, as pensioners are not paid for eight years and all social services including hospitals are grounded in the state, the group concluded in a recent petition supporting the position of Elder Statesman, Chief EK Clark.
