Two youth members of the Lagos Judicial Panel have boycotted the proceedings, leading to the inability of the panel to hold its Saturday’s sitting.

The boycott by the youth representatives was as a result of the court order obtained by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to freeze the bank accounts of Bolatito Oduala, popularly known as Rinu, a panel member, alongside 19 others linked to the EndSARS protests.

The Judicial Panel of Inquiry was set up by the Lagos State Government, to probe sundry complaints of human rights abuses against members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the infamous Lekki Toll Plaza shootings.Lagos Judicial Panel

Chairman of the judicial panel, retired Justice Doris Okuwobi, suspended the sitting as it could not hold a session in the absence of the youth members of the panel.

The panel’s sitting has been adjourned to November 14 to give ample opportunity for the CBN and the panel members to resolve the issues bordering on the restrictions placed on campaigners’ bank accounts.

The CBN reportedly applied for the restriction of 20 accounts linked with the protest for 90 days at the Federal High Court.

It was gathered that the application was filed on 20 October, the same day when soldiers swooped on protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos.
