Personal Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr Bashir Ahmad said the President was aware of the #EndSARS protest which has gone
global and he would take an action that will favour Nigerians and its teeming youths.
Ahmad, made this known in a tweet on Friday and disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, has briefed Buhari on the protest.
He assured Nigerians that the president would “take an action in the best interest of Nigerians.”

“Good people of Nigeria have every right to protest the #PoliceBrutality or anything they see is not going on well. The President was briefed yesterday by the IG of Police, I am very sure action will be taken and in the best interest of Nigerians. #EndSARSProtests,” he tweeted.
The protest which involved thousands of Nigerians including celebrities, demanded an end to police brutality in the country.
It started on Thursday and continued today in some major cities in Nigeria: Lagos, Abuja, Osogbo in Osun State and even Ughelli in Delta State among others.
The IGP on Sunday, had clamped down on the activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), ordering that they desist from embarking on stop-and-search patrols and other routine patrols on the road.
But this directive from the IGP was not enough even as groups such as Amnesty International said the government has not done enough, pointing to previous unsuccessful attempts to ban the force.
The #EndSARS protest which began on the social media especially Twitter became stronger following the declaration of protest led by notable entertainment personalities.

The series of protests became international as Nigerians living in the diaspora are also mobilising others to storm the Nigerian Embassies in their respective countries
The #EndSARS protests suddenly spread like wildfire drawing attention and interests in the UK, US and in some other far-flung places around the world.
