It started on Thursday and continued today in some major cities in Nigeria: Lagos, Abuja, Osogbo in Osun State and even Ughelli in Delta State among others.

The IGP on Sunday, had clamped down on the activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), ordering that they desist from embarking on stop-and-search patrols and other routine patrols on the road.

But this directive from the IGP was not enough even as groups such as Amnesty International said the government has not done enough, pointing to previous unsuccessful attempts to ban the force.

The #EndSARS protest which began on the social media especially Twitter became stronger following the declaration of protest led by notable entertainment personalities.
