The embattled suspended Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Umar Damagum, has said the pervading hardship in the country is the consequence of tactics employed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to clinch power at the national level.
He declared that people who voted Tinubu sacrificed the opportunity of having good government in power on the altar of momentary pleasures by trading their votes for spaghettis, wrappers and other items.
The politician who was mocking Nigerians asked voters to face the consequence of their actions while it lasts.
Damagum said this after a meeting with stakeholders of the PDP at the weekend.
He said: “The APC was never ready to govern, so what good could possibly come from them?.
“Those who accepted spaghetti and wrappers to bring in this government are suffering the most, and this should serve as a lesson.
“We must seek credible, proven, and tested leaders who are genuinely prepared to govern, not those who simply say, ‘Emilokan’”
President Tinubu took over the reins of power from Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2023 having defeated the presidential candidates of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party, Peter Obi, among others.
Tinubu rode to power on the back of a campaign pitch couched in Yoruba, “Emilokan” meaning “It’s my turn”.
However, experts believe that the economy has drastically declined under the Tinubu administration, resulting in suffering amongst Nigerians.
