- To pull back involvement in government

Tech Titan and the wealthiest person in the world, Elon Musk, has publicly expressed his reservations about US President Donald Trump’s domestic policy bill passed by Republicans in the House last week.
Musk, who supported Trump’s re-election, said he is disappointed by the development.
He stated: “I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing.”
The New Diplomat reports that Musk’s remarks highlight a reported growing rift with Trump, his former ally.
It was also gathered that the legislation, which is a flagship of Trump’s second term, extends the 2017 tax cuts, ramps up defense budgets, and funds controversial mass deportation programs.
Analysts estimate it could swell the national debt by $3.3 trillion over a decade, pushing the debt-to-GDP ratio to 125%.
Musk, who recently exited his advisory role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), had championed $2 trillion in federal spending cuts, making the bill’s lavish allocations a direct clash with his fiscal goals.
It would be recalled that Musk was frequently present at the Oval Office programs in the early days of the Trump administration.
According to reports, the development led to a situation where his “DOGE staffers were sweeping through virtually every government agency to make widespread cuts — drawing concern from Democrats and even some Trump allies, as well as numerous legal challenges.”
However, billionaire Musk, who is also the CEO of SpaceX and the social media platform X, has said he will pull back his involvement in government.
