A self-acclaimed O’odua activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, has again insisted that no election would hold across the Southwest region in 2023.

According to the activist’s opinion, the Yoruba people are ready to secede from Nigeria and establish the Oduduwa nation.

This is coming as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently announced the gubernatorial election dates for Ekiti and Osun States.

The New Diplomat had recently reported that INEC has scheduled the election in Ekiti State to hold on Saturday, June 18, 2022 while that of Osun State will hold on July 16, 2022.

However, Igboho who has continued to champion the call for secession, once again reiterated that no election would hold in Southwest.

Speaking in a live video session anchored by his spokesman, Oluyomi Koiki, the activist stated that the Yorubas have suffered enough, adding that the time is right for secession.

He also vowed that there was no going back on the agitation struggle.

In his words, “Marriage is not by force. We can’t live with you again. The Yoruba nation is a vehicle of salvation and I want all Yoruba to board the vehicle and have their seats.

“How can we go back when we are almost at our destination? Those who have not joined us should do so now because there’s no election come 2023. Yoruba will go,” he added.

Igboho has been in the news since issuing a 7-day ultimatum to the Fulani Herders in Ibarapa area of Oyo State over an alleged involvement in the killings, kidnappings, maiming, raping, of some Yoruba residents in the area.

He has also been moving around the states in Southwest, campaigning for the  establishment of the Yoruba Nation.

The New Diplomat had reported that he had been to Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti States to lead the Yoruba Nation mega rally.
