As the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to lash out at the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate and his Vice over their remarks on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declaration of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as winner of the February 25 Presidential election, Elder statesman and Convener, Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark has warned the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed over unguided utterances against Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba Ahmed.

The Minister was reported to have stated in the United Kingdom that the statement credited to the duo was tantamount to treason as both of them would have been in jail.

In a swift reaction, the Ijaw leader urged the federal government to call the information minister to order, as threatening Obi with treason for pursuing his course in a legitimate manner would further heat up the already tensed polity.

He said that rather than threatening the LP presidential candidate and his Vice with arrest and prosecution over phantom charge of treason, the federal government should rather assured them of getting justice at the election tribunal.

Clark observed in dismay that Lai Mohammed had become so reckless with his utterances against Peter Obi, adding that the minister’s disposition towards the LP presidential Candidate can trigger civil unrest.

The Elder statesman also warned the minister against gaging the press for engaging in their legitimate duties of reporting events as they seemed to be.

The Ijaw leader also called on the APC to caution their Spokespersons from overheating the polity by making statements that seem to threatened the opposition parties.
