Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has tested positive for coronavirus and has gone into self-isolation.
El-Rufai, In a statement explained that his test result, which he took earlier in the week has returned positive.
“Earlier this week, I submitted a sample for the Covid-19 test. The result came in this evening, and I regret to say that it is positive.
“According to the protocols for managing Covid-19, I am in self-isolation as required by the case management guidelines of the NCDC for someone that is no showing symptoms.
“I wish to appeal to the people of Kaduna State to continue to closely observe the preventive measures already announced.”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has reported eight new cases of coronavirus diagnoses in the country, taking the tally to 97, three shy of 100.
According to NCDC on Saturday night, two of the cases are in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, four in Oyo, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Osun State.
“As at 10:40 pm 28th March there are 97 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death”, it said.
