The Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu on Wednesday listed 10 short terms and long terms points that can take the country out the current economic recession. The lawmaker listed the points his contribution as the Senate commences debate of the recession.
According to him the federal government should release money especially from the recovery made from the fight against corruption to finance the 2015 budget.
The Deputy Senate President also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reig his cabinet to ensure that ministers are assigned to position they can perform better. “Udo Udoma is my very good friend and I believe he can do better in the ministry of trade and investment. The minister of finance can also be assigned to area where she can do better” Ekweremadu said.
The Deputy Senate President also asks the federal government to renegotiate the terms of agreement with oil companies. He also urged the executives to build confident in the people.
On the long term measures, Ekweremadu called for restructuring of governance, intensification of fight against corruption, promoting of unity and diversification of economy. He however caution on the sales of National Access as been canvas by some individuals. “We should be fear to future generation in taking decision on the sales of National access” Ekweremadu said.
He also called for amendment of the constitution to allow the government be able to save for the situation like the present economic recession.
