Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Port Harcourt, Rivers State have quizzed three suspected internet fraudsters who allegedly clone facebook accounts and telephone numbers of businessmen, high profile politicians and top government functionaries.
The suspects, Obasi Ebere Emmanuel, Nwankwo Christian and Alieze Ikechukwu were arrested by operatives of Department of State Security, DSS, and handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution. The suspects were picked up at their hideout at a hotel in Port Harcourt.
Investigation reveals that the suspects send out mails, advertise non-existing job vacancies and forge document of banks and oil companies with which they extort money from unsuspecting members of the public.
A search conducted at their resident uncovered several implicating documents including laptops. The suspects who have admitted to committing the alleged crime will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
