The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has fixed local government council election for April 19, 2022.

According to a statement by the Secretary of the commission, Mr. Peter Ojo, the notice of election was issued on March 24, while meeting with political parties is fixed ed for March 28, according to the table time.

Going by the details of the timetable, there will be conduct of primaries from March 30 to April 6 while the publication of notice of poll at the ward collation centers will take place on April 11.

Coming three years after the tenure of former local government chairmen lapsed in March last year, Ojo stated that the collection and submission of forms by political parties/submission of list of party agents will take place from April 7 to 12.

Ojo further disclosed: “April 12, electioneering campaign commences, April 13-14 screening of aspirants, April 15, display of names of candidates.

“April 16, submission of names of changed/substituted, candidates and screening of substituted candidates.

“April 17, final publication of list of validated candidates, April 18, end of electioneering campaign and April 19, local government election.”
