The gubernatorial aspirations of Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Edo State, received a significant boost on Sunday as the Accord Party leadership in Esan Central local Government merged its organizational framework with the PDP.
The Accord Party led by the Senatorial Leader, Eihebholo Joe, said the decision to collapse its structure into PDP is because of the distinguished leadership qualities of Ighodalo.
The representatives of the party were received by the DG, Campaign Council of PDP, Superior Evangelist Adekunle Oboh at Irrua, on Sunday.
Other members of the Accord Party received into the PDP are the Edo State Organizing Sec. Hon Edowaye, Woman leader, Mrs Akhigbe Regina, Youth leader Earnest Ebofuale and the 5 LGA chairmen
and declared his support for the re-election of Governor Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu.
During the event, Edowaye expressed his confidence in Ighodalo’s ambition, highlighting that the credible qualities of the PDP candidate are essential for the development of Edo State.
He also assured his readiness to join the Party and be part of the great PDP family to ensure the electoral victory of Ighodalo come 21st September 2024.
The New Diplomat reports that Ighodalo is contesting against Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP), among other parties in the forthcoming September 21, governorship election of Edo state.
