Against the backdrop of the prevailing economic hardship in the country, Nigerians and indeed, members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) have been called upon to get ready to use their voters cards to remove the ruling national All Progressives Congress (APC) from power come 2019.

Making this call at the Uvwie Local Government chapter of the PDP Secretariat, Effurun on Thursday October 13, 2016 in continuation of his statewide visit to all the Council areas, the Delta State PDP chairman, Chief Barr. Kingsley Esiso, noted that the APC promised Nigerians a change that will make life better, adding that today, a bag of rice which cost between N7,000 – N8,000 in 2015 now sells for N25,000.  According to him, kerosene is no more affordable by the common man while it is difficult for people to fuel their cars now.  He noted that President Buhari and his APC are bad changes that need to be changed in 2019.

Said he: “Some people would be wondering why we want Buhari to go.  Now, we can remember vividly sometime in 2014, 2015 some persons that call themselves members of APC came to us with a very bad commodity which they change.  Unfortunately, Nigerians bought the change without asking the nature.

“Today, Uvwie women, how much is a bag of rice? N25,000.  Can you imagine?  In 2015 a bag of rice sold for N8,000.  Today, kerosene is out of reach of the common man.  We can no longer fuel our cars because the price of a litre of fuel has shut up from N87 to N145.  The economy is heavily bastardized.  Nigerians are hungry.  What do we do?  Members of PDP are democrats, we don’t carry guns, we don’t carry cutlass.  2019 will come.  We will use the instrument of our ballot papers to change the bad change. We must change the change in 2019.”

Earlier, the chairman of PDP in Uvwie Local Government Area, Mr. Kelly Utuedor, had assured the State PDP boss that Uvwie remains a PDP stronghold, adding that it cannot be shaken in any way.  According to him, the youths, the women and men, leaders and elders of Uvwie Local Government are all in support of the PDP.

He said: “This is to reaffirm that the family of PDP in Uvwie Local Government Area where you are today is one force that cannot be shaken.  You can see that for the first time, the youths who used to pose problems before have now come together and tasked themselves to support you and the PDP entourage.  The women are there and also the men.  What else can say but to say you are welcome sir.  As you promised, please keep it up and you will have our support anytime any day.”

Present at the occasion were the Vice chairman of PDP, Delta Central, Chief A.P. Fovie, the State Organizing Secretary of the party, Chief Onoriode Sunday, the Delta South PDP Vice chairman, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, Chief Imiruaye among others.
