The federal government has declared Friday 7 and Monday 10 of April as public holidays to mark the Easter Celebration for Christians.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who made the announcement Wednesday in Abuja, enjoined Christians to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, togetherness, forgiveness, kindness, love and patience which were attributes of the Messiah, Jesus Christ as he demonstrated by his ministry on earth.

The Minister implored Christians to use the opportunity to seek the face of God in Nigeria’s intractable security challenge as well as the fragile peace that reigns in Nigeria at moment.

His words: “I therefore urged Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry.”

Aregbesola however disclosed that the federal government is currently working assiduously to ensure a peaceful transition of government consequent upon the peaceful conduct of the general elections.

He stated that despite the numerous challenges the nation is presently battling to curtail, “there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Aregbesola added.
