In an alleged dramatic crackdown on cybercrime, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly raided the Green Legacy Hotel, located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library premises in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

It was gathered that the operation, which took place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, targeted a group of youths allegedly involved in internet fraud, apprehended during a lively pool party at the hotel owned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

According to reports, EFCC reportedly swooped in following intelligence that linked the suspects to cybercrime activities.

Reports indicated that the operatives reportedly stormed the hotel, disrupting the festive atmosphere as they arrested several individuals suspected of engaging in online scams. Luxury cars, mobile phones, laptops, and other items believed to be proceeds of fraudulent activities were seized during the operation.

The Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the incident, but he did not provide details.

“Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know,” he said.

Meanwhile, the EFCC is yet to issue an official statement on the reported raid.
