The mother of four who showed her bruised face in the video that went viral Sunday, said that the latest attack she suffered was because she told her husband to spend money wisely and not on women.
Ifeyinwa noted that this physical assault by her husband, happened just four weeks after she gave birth to their baby.
In a reconciliatory effort, Governor Ortom met with the couple on Monday, and counselled them to always settle their differences amicably and advised the husband not to engage in violence in relating to issues with his wife.
According to Ortom’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jimin Geoffrey, who shared details of the meeting on Facebook, the Governor said as young couple with a great future before them, there was need for them to work on building a strong union to serve as a model to other marriages.
The husband, Pius Angbo, responded that he has apologised to his wife over the assault.
He added that he seeks the forgiveness of the entire women folks and would make amends going forward.
The victim, Dr Angbo, on her part said she has reportedly accepted her husband’s apology and forgiven him, saying their children are still tender and they needed prayers to grow stronger in love and nurture their kids to maturity.
She appreciated Governor Ortom for taking time out of his very tight schedule to make peace between them, saying the Governor’s intervention was fatherly and a demonstration of love.
Earlier, Channels Television had reacted to the allegation that its staff, Pius Angbo assaulted his wife, Ifeanyiwa.
Condemning the action of Mr Angbo, Channels TV said, it “does not condone violence against women or anyone in general.
“The domestic violence matter reported against one of our reporters is being investigated and appropriate action will be taken.”
However, many have taken to the social media to call for the arrest and prosecution of the Channels reporter over the assault on his wife as she was still carrying the mark of the domestic attack on her face during the visit to the Governor.
