Preparatory to the official visit, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike declared Wednesday, 3 May, 2023 as public holiday to welcome the President elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Governor who made the declaration in state wide broadcast, said Tinubu had expressed his desire to commission some strategic projects in the state during his Presidential Campaign visit.

The public holiday declaration by Governor Wike to host the President elect, Tinubu has elicited divergent views even beyond the shores of Rivers state.
