Three persons have now died from the fuel tanker explosion that happened early Tuesday in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

Also, scores were badly injured in the deadly explosion which occurred along the IBB Boulevard Road, Kuto, Abeokuta.3 Dead In Abeokuta Tanker Explosion As Ogun Govt Gives Update

Earlier, The New Diplomat had reported that the incident occurred as a result of break failure experienced by the tanker laden with fuel. The tanker had hit a motorcycle before ramming into several vehicles along the road, near the Alaba Lawanson Group of Schools.

However, before the men of the Ogun State Fire Service(OFS), arrived at the location, the fire outburst had already killed three persons, injuring scores of people and destroyed five vehicles, two motorcycles.

While speaking on the tragedy, Femi Ogunbanwo, the Commissioner for Special Duties, said the injured victims had been taken to the hospital for proper treatment.

He said all the expenses incurred as a result of their treatment will be footed by the state government.

The commissioner also urged the citizens of the state not to panic as the investigation of what led to the explosion had started.
