The Edo State Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi has vehemently denied report in some media that the resurging opposition conducted its recent primary in Edo State Government House, Benin.

Ogbaloi insisted that the party conducted its primary across political wards, districts and local governments with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) observing at different locations.

The chairman said that Government House, Benin is neither an extension of LP nor a unit/department in Edo State seat of government.

With a dismissive wave of the hand, Ogbaloi said that is the poverty of the head that could lead anyone to ever imagine that the potential primary of an institution like LP will be run in Government House.

He said that the onus is on the writer of the fake news to show physical evidences of how it happened.

He said: “I have to clear that Labour Party conducted its primary across political wards, districts and local governments with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) observing at different locations.

“This is verifiable and so those who are insinuating that our primaries were conducted in Government House must show physical evidences of how it happened. This has not been provided.”

“Labour Party is not prepared to be in any shady business with any government or any political party and we are moving forward and not ready to look backward. It is lack of fertile reasoning on the part of that individual who made that insinuation.”

Ogbaloi said that the party has come home to stay and is ready to develop from the goodwill it has achieved in all the nooks and crannies of Edo State and Nigeria as at today.

The chairman who predicted victory for the party in the 2023 polls in Edo State said that it is not true that Governor Godwin Obaseki has one leg in LP after he fell out with his members in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

On the several OBIdient Movements mushrooming in Edo State in support of the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, he said that his prospects are very broad and crystal clear, adding that the party intends to hit the ground running as soon as campaigns commence officially.

“The capitalization of the OBIdient Movement is the harThenessing of those who have keyed into it and that process of harnessing is in progress already because we will ensure that not one person will leave the confine of the current arrangements that we are making.

“There are groups that have ordinarily developed themselves with goodwill that is unspeakable. As we speak, we are building on those goodwill and we will ensure that everybody is properly sensitized,” he said.
