Immediate past President of the United States, Joe Biden has reportedly undergone a surgical procedure to remove skin cancer lesions.
This was disclosed by Biden’s spokesperson, Kelly Scully, who told the press that the surgery addressed a visible scar on the former President’s forehead.
According to reports, the procedure, a technique that removes thin layers of skin until no cancerous cells remain, was performed to treat an unspecified type of skin cancer.
Recall that the surgery came to public attention after footage aired by Inside Edition showed Biden, 82, leaving a church in Greenville, Delaware, in late August with a noticeable incision on his forehead.
The New Diplomat reports that this is not Biden’s first encounter with skin cancer. In February 2023, during a routine physical exam while still in the office, a basal cell carcinoma lesion was reportedly removed from his chest.
According to reports, the former president’s physician at the time, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, reported that “all cancerous tissue was successfully removed” and no further treatment was required.
Biden has also had non-melanoma skin cancers removed prior to his presidency.
Recall also that the Biden family has faced reported cancer situations in the past. In 2015, Biden’s son, Beau, tragically passed away on account of brain cancer at age 46, inspiring the former vice president to launch the Cancer Moonshot initiative to accelerate cancer research.
Former First Lady Jill Biden also underwent surgery in 2023 to remove whst experts called cancerous lesions above her right eye and on her chest, both identified as basal cell carcinoma.
In addition to his skin cancer treatments, Biden disclosed in May 2025 a diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer.
