The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has solicited for the support and cooperation of the staff of the Assembly, assuring them of better days ahead.

Oberovwori who stated this at a meeting with management staff of the Assembly recently, disclosed that the meeting became necessary in order for him to be more abreast with challenges confronting the Staff.  He implored the management staff to be alive to their responsibilities, saying everything will be done to meet their needs within available resources.

The Speaker said that he was impressed with the management staff so far and enjoined them to double up their efforts so as to make the Delta State House of Assembly one of the best in the country.

Said he; “I’m so happy today with this meeting. We will continue to meet like this. I want to sue for your cooperation. Let us work together. Delta State House of Assembly is very vibrant and we are doing well”.

Responding to the demands presented to him by the management staff, the Speaker appealed for their understanding, saying that; “Your demands have to do with money and we are all aware about the challenges in the country. We have challenges of funds, once there is improvement in our finances, the needful will be done”.

The Speaker who was flanked by Principal Officers of the House of Assembly added that;”We are praying that better things should happen in this our regime. I want to appeal to you to bear with us, better days are coming. We will look into the issues you raised once we have the money to do so”.

Earlier, the Clerk of the House, Barrister (Mrs.) Lyna Ocholor, presented the needs of the management staff and implored the Speaker on behalf of the management staff, to use his good offices, to attend to the issues.

It would be recalled that the Speaker had also held a similar meeting with members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), where their Chairman, Comrade Edozie Emmanuel, presented him with requests similar to those presented by the management staff.

The Speaker also promised to look into them and solicited for their cooperation in the face of dwindling economy.
