The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. (Hon) Sheriff Oborevwori, last week, commissioned a gigantic multi-million naira 10,000 gallons water project at Orerokpe Secondary School, Orerokpe, Delta State.
The Speaker who was represented at the ceremony by Hon. Efe Afe, former member, Delta State House of Assembly, commended the sponsors of the project, Texas Elites Forum for taking the pains to finance the project, which he said would be of great assistance to the management, staff and students of the school.
He promised to embark on the grading and landscaping of the school premises in order to give it a face lift, adding that if he wins the election as member of the House of Representatives in Okpe, Sapele, Uvwie Constituency in the 2019 general elections, he would use his connections to attract a befitting science laboratory to the school.
Earlier in his welcome address, the president of Texas Elites Forum, Mr. Clement Afe disclosed that the project was executed at the cost of N2,500,000.00 (two million, five hundred thousand naira), saying that he Texas Elite Forum is a non politically affiliated, non religious, detribalized body of men and women in different professions with an affinity to Orerokpe by way of either birth or residence, and committed to the development and growth of Orerokpe town in particular, and the Okpe nation at large as their own way of giving back to the society that nurtured them.
Speaking further, Mr. Afe said it is their hope that government and other interested stakeholders would partner with the group in ensuring the complete transformation of Orerokpe town into a modern city befitting of its traditional status as the ancestral headquarters of the Okpe people.
Responding, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Ann Ojugba commended the Forum for embarking on the project which she said has put an end to the suffering of the management, staff and students of the school who were having no place to ease themselves when they are pressed due to lack of water.
High point of the ceremony was the presentation of a generating set to the school by the forum to power the water project.
