…Ten Cultists

One suspected kidnapper, five drug lords and ten cultists have been arrested by the police in Delta State just as a female kidnapped victim has been rescued.

According to the Delta State Police spokesman, Mr. Bright Edafe, the police had on April 1 received a distressed call from an anonymous caller in Igbide community, Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area that some hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers numbering about five operating in a blue color Toyota Camry suspected to be conveying an abducted victim was spotted heading towards an isolated bush path in Igbide.

Edafe said that the police swiftly mobilized and led a combined team of police/vigilantes in search of the vehicle with a view to rescuing the victim and arresting the hoodlums.

Continuing, he said that the hoodlums upon noticing that the police were closing in on them
attempted to relocate the victim but were met with a stiff resistance from the law enforcement agents.

According to the spokesman, one of the suspects, Mr. James Michael also known as Biggy, 29 who has been on the command’s wanted list was arrested while others escaped.

Edafe noted that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is among the syndicate that kidnapped a woman (name withheld) early this year in Oleh and also part of the gang that attacked policemen in Idu roundabout about two months ago.

He added that the victim who has since been reunited with his family (name withheld) who was rescued unhurt stated that he was kidnapped at Otor-Whe community on March 29.

Victim has been reunited with his family while manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.

In another development, Edafe said that on March 311, the command raider’s operatives bursted some suspected cultists hideouts in Udu/Otu-Jeremi of Udu and Ughelli south Local Government Areas, nabbing ten suspected cultists, confiscated 101 wraps of SK, four packs of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and 10mg of substances suspected to be cocaine from the suspects.

Similarly, the Delta Police public relations officer disclosed that on April 1, police operatives while acting on information raided Ogbe-Ogonogo market area and Glory land both in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area of the state and arrested a suspected drug baron, Mallam Amadu Musa, 55 and four other male suspects.

During the raid, Edafe said that 436 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, 30 packets of tramadol and some other illicit drugs were recovered, adding that investigations in all the cases are still ongoing.
