The Delta State Police spokesman, Mr. Bright Edafe who confirmed the arrest assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated and the suspect will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Okoro was arrested on Tuesday at the school premises by policemen from the ‘A’ Divisional Police Station in Asaba, following a complaint by the distraught mother of the victim.

A family source explained that the mother became worried when she noticed that her little daughter was not walking well and acting strangely.

Continuing, the source said that the strange behaviour of the daughter prompted the alarmed mother to probe her, adding that the young school girl confessed that she was defiled by her headmaster the previous week.

The suspected paedophile was said to be in the middle of an early morning devotion when he was summoned by the proprietor of the school to answer questions on the alleged defilement.

The source added: “At the proprietor’s office, the pupil narrated how the suspect defiled her right inside the school toilet and told her not to tell anybody or else she will be sent out of the school and nothing will happen.”

The proprietor who was reportedly livid about the incident promptly handed over the erring teacher to the police for investigation and prosecution.
