Piqued by the heightened state of insecurity in the country, Delta State Traditional Rulers have called for urgent military action to arrest the deteriorating situation.

In a statement in Asaba by the Pere of Akugbene Mien, Pere SP Luke Kalanama VIII, the first Vice Chairman of the Council after the monthly meeting of the monarchs, decried the heightened insecurity in Abuja.

While calling for the overhaul of the security architecture to give a more biting effect against insurgency in the country and restore normalcy in the land, they decried the unending deadly attacks and threats of attack by the insurgents.

Pere Kalanama VIII who was flanked by the second Vice Chairman and Obi of Ubulu Uno, Agbogidi Henry Kikachukwu 1 and the immediate Past Chairman of the Council, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor 11 said the royal fathers were worried by the recent cult-related killing of three policemen in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

They insisted that the law enforcement agents should do everything possible to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.

Ahead of the 2023 polls, the first vice chairman challenged all stakeholders in the security sector to brace up to their roles and ensure the security of the lives and property of Nigerians.

At the meeting which was attended by traditional rulers from across the three Senatorial districts in the state, the monarchs advocated for greater synergy between royal fathers and government for the betterment of the society

They called on their counterparts in other states to emulate the Delta State example by supporting and synergizing with their state governments so as to engender good governance, peace security and development.

The Obi of Owa who lamented the current state of insecurity in the land, tasked the monarchs and their subjects to be vigilant, advising that they should be on the alert to forestall any breakdown of law and order in their domains.
