The growing network of roads criss-crossing Delta Central and other parts of the state including other major infrastructures constructed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in the past three and half years, have attracted the commendation of the Royal Father of Ughelli kingdom in Delta State.

Giving the commendation in an address to welcome the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo during his visit to the Ughelli monarch, HRM Oharisi III, the President-General of Ughelli kingdom noted that Delta Central and, indeed, Delta State have not had it this good.

The address which was delivered on behalf of the monarch by the President-General of the kingdom, Chief Kenneth Iwhewhe, recalled the poor state of roads in Delta Central prior to the emergence of the Buhari-administration, adding that now, for every corner of the state there is the presence of NDDC project completed or ongoing.

He said, “Through the intervention of NDDC, our public schools have witnessed massive renovations, our roads have been given facelifts and just recently scholarships were also extended to our children. All of these are by the federal government through NDDC.

“This is not restricted to Delta State alone but throughout the Niger Delta region. And I can say that the Niger Delta region has not have it so good.

“For this, we say thank you, Mr. President.”

The monarch also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing one of the sons of the soil, Engr. Samuel Adjogbe as the Executive Director. project (NDDC).

Also emphasizing the achievements of the Buhari administration through the NDDC, the Senator representing Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege noted that the Commission has completed more road projects in Delta State than the state government.

He said: “Today, we have more road constructed in Delta Central Senatorial district, and indeed, the entire state, more than the state government has constructed.

“Mr. President, we thank you for funding NDDC for us.”

Responding, the Vice President who was in Warri earlier in the day to flag off the TraderMoni scheme, accepted the commendation of the Royal father, adding that beyond funding the NDDC to provide infrastructure, the government is involved in several social investment including the traderMoni scheme, school children feeding, Itakpe-Warri railway, East-West road, among others.
