A former Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sani has sounded a warning to the Nigerian Army to target the perpetrators of the killing of its personnel in such a way it won’t affect innocent people in Delta state.

The former lawmaker who noted that the Army needs to fish out the individuals soiling the peace in Delta state, also said that it is imperative to do so without escalating the crisis in the state.

Sani made this statement in response to the recent military operation in the Okuama community of Delta State, where sixteen soldiers were tragically killed.

Sani, who took to his official X handle, emphasized the need for precision in addressing the situation, echoing sentiments reminiscent of challenges faced in conflict zones like Gaza.

In his words, he said; “The Military should go specifically after those who perpetrated the heinous acts in the Delta Community. But that is what we are saying in Gaza”.

The New Diplomat reports that Okuama, a community situated in the Ughelli South Local Government Area, became the epicenter of turmoil when news broke of the soldiers’ deaths. Allegations have since emerged that the Nigerian Army might be planning to carry out a retaliatory attack, sparking fears of escalating violence and reprisals in the region.
