The aspiration of Dr Phillip Okwuada to stop the fourth term bid of Mr Charles Nwaokolo (Ika Federal Constituency, Delta State) nearly ended in tragedy on Monday as he reportedly slumped after the counting of the votes.

Okwuada managed to poll a measly 7 votes while the winner of the exercise, Nwokolo polled 75 votes.

In a video which has since gone viral on social media, Okwuada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) froze and fell to the floor with a thud while observing a live interview shortly after Nwaokolo was declared the winner.

A source close to the aspirant explained that when he (Okwuada) entered the contest, he had high hopes of clinching the ticket because he spent a lot of money to grease the palms of the delegates in return for promises to vote for him.

He was however shell shocked when discovered that he actually lost out to the incumbent.

The source added that Okwuada actually fainted and slumped when the thoughts of the huge amount of money he spent on the exercise flashed through his mind.

It was not however clear whether he was rushed to the hospital or home to relax and get himself back on his feet.
