  • Warns against blackmail of NDDC projects director, Adjogbe

A prominent political group in Delta Central Senatorial district of the state, the Evwreni Political Leaders and Elders Forum has cautioned the candidate of the House of Assembly Ughelli Constituency I on the platform of the Accord Party, Mr. Christopher Obiuwevbi, against his call for the cancellation of Evwreni Clan votes in the recently-concluded House of Assembly election.

In a press release signed by its chairman, Alh. Mumakai Unagha, and made available to newsmen, the group also warned Obiuwevbi against the campaign of calumny and cheap blackmail which he is allegedly leading  against the person of Engr. Samuel Adjogbe, the Acting Executive Director of Projects, NDDC.

The group averred that the Governorship/House of Assembly election that was held on March 9, 2019, in Evwreni was, free, fair and credible, adding that both local and international observers who monitored the election testified to that fact.

According to the release, “While we were about dismissing the campaign of calumny with a wave of the hand, he (Obiuwevbi) went ahead calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to cancel the Evwreni ward’s election which both National and Local observers have applauded as very peaceful and credible.”

While warning Mr. Obiuwevbi against blaming his failure in the election on Engr. Adjogbe, the group advised him to blame his own people who refused to vote for him.

“We strongly advise him to stop blaming his misfortune on the highly respected Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe rather he should blame his people who voted against him as not worthy to represent their constituency”, the group said, adding that “Engr. Adjogbe, apart from being an APC faithful, he is too descent to use military or security agents of any kind to intimidate voters as he is a complete gentleman of inestimable value.”

The Evwreni Political leaders and Elders Forum “viewed the blackmail and the call for the cancellation of the Evwreni ward election by Mr. Obiuwevbi as an insult to the entire Evwreni people”, the release added.

It recalled that Mr. Obiuwevbi who lost out in APC primary, defected to the Accord Party, adding that he resorted to cheap blackmail when his request for sponsorship was refused.

The group also recalled that “Evwreni has a track record of service to the Urhobo Nation and Nigeria in general, which, according to the group, Adjogbe is currently offering”, adding the Obiuwevbi must be playing the script of someone somewhere.
