The Delta Central APC has commended Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege over the ongoing palliatives which he is giving to the elderly, the vulnerable and the physically-challenged persons in the eight Local governments areas of Urhobo land.

Giving this commendation in a statement by the Central APC chairman, Olorogun Barr. Adelabu Ejiroghene Bodjor, he expressed satisfaction for the Senator’s extension of palliative to the elderly and vulnerable in the district, pointing out that it is a huge relief for the people at this critical time of Covid-19 lockdown.

It would be recalled that Ovie Omo-Agege who represents the Delta Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly, commenced the disbursement of cash to the elderly and vulnerable in the area. He set aside N85 million for the project which is to be distributed at N1 million per ward at the rate of N5,000 per person.

Bodjor thanked the Deputy President of the Senate for the gesture, adding that the Senator has continued to demonstrate a unique style of representation that is people-oriented and novel in Urhobo land.

According to him, at such times like the one the country is going through at the moment those who are healthy and strong are finding it difficult to cater for themselves, let alone the weak and the elderly.

“You see, the Senator is always unique in his approach to care for his constituents. Reaching out to the elderly in the society is a way of assisting to relieve those who have the elderly as parents as well as giving hope to the old men and women that they have not been neglected.

“This Obarisi’s palliative is also unique in the sense that it addresses the need of the people in that age bracket more appropriately than the so-called one cup of rice per person palliative which the government of the state is distributing to the people.”

The Delta Central chairman of the party who is also the State Vice chairman, noted that Senator Omo-Agege also did not tie his palliative to APC, adding that it was given to everybody.

“Obarisi realize that every Urhobo person is his constituent and so, he ordered that the palliative must go round without party consideration”, he said.

Bodjor said that the party is proud of the Senator for his leadership and unique representation of the people of Delta Central.

“The party is proud of the Deputy President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who has not disappointed us.

He urged men of goodwill and means in Urhobo land to emulate the super Senator in coming to offer assistance to the people at this time that people are compelled to stay at home.

“We call upon well-to-do Urhobo to emulate the Senator and come to the aid of our people at this time.

“It is our prayer that God will continue to strengthen him and give him more wisdom as he carries out the duty for which he was elected by the people,” he said.
