*Your Project, Our Project, Sapele APC Tells Dafinone

The All-Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State has assured of its preparedness to deliver all its candidates in the 2023 general elections just as the Sapele chapter of the party has declared that Dafinone’s Senatorial project is their project.

The Delta Central chairman of the APC, Chief Paulinus Akpeki gave this assurance when a Senatorial aspirant of the party, Chief Ede Omueya Dafinone, and his entourage, paid a consultation visit to the Sapele Local Government executives yesterday, May 2, 2022, to formally solicit the support of the party delegates and party members ahead of the forthcoming primary election.

Speaking at the occasion, Akpeki revealed that the Delta Central Senatorial district of the party was poised to deliver all APC candidates in the State, adding that they will put all machinery in motion to ensure victory for all the party flagbearers in the 2023 election.

“We, at the Central, have decided that we must deliver our Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and all our candidates in Delta State. We are happy to see you and that you have recognised us”, he said.

While expressing the support of the party for Chief Dafinone, the Delta Central chairman, advised that he should not forget the people when he eventually becomes the Senator, noting that the party at the senatorial level was ready to partner with him for as long as he is ready to improve on the achievements of the current Senator and Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as well as carry the people of the zone along.

“We are happy to see you and you have recognised us. During your presentation, you said you want to improve on the achievements of the Deputy President of the Senate. We will support you because of that.

“You said you want to partner with us, you must have a listening ear but when you get there, don’t forget the people who stood by you. We have agreed for you to go, don’t fail them, don’t disappoint the people of Delta Central because the Urhobo people are crying for help”, he advised.

Earlier, while addressing the Sapele party exco on his mission, the frontline APC Senatorial aspirant, Chief Dafinone disclosed that he was in the senatorial race to improve on the sterling performance of the incumbent, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, adding that he has all it takes to contest and defeat the PDP in the main election and build on the legacy that the DSP will leave behind.

He, therefore, solicited the support of the delegates at the primary to fly the Senatorial flag of the party in the main election.

He said: “I present myself as someone qualified to run, represent, and most importantly somebody qualified to defeat the PDP.

“I am asking for your support to win the Senate position and to also deliver the position of the Governor of Delta State to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. What the senator has done in seven years is outstanding. Very few senators can boast of what he has done, whether past Senate President or Deputy Senate President.

“A governor can do a thousand times what the senator can do for us. I asked for your support in actualizing my own vision.”

Responding, the Sapele Local Government APC chairman, Mr. Friday Erubasa, assured the Senatorial aspirant of the support of the delegates and members of the party in the Senatorial election, pointing out that his project is their project.

According to him, the party at the Local Government level is prepared to deliver the governorship aspirant of the party, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Delta Central Senatorial aspirant, Chief Ede Dafinone, and other contestants on the platform of the APC in the State, stressing that it is a task that must be done.

“You are our own, so we must support you. Your project is our project that is why we are saying we are solidly behind you”, Erubasa said.

The Senatorial aspirant also received an overwhelming endorsement from the executive and members of the party in Ethiope West Local Government Area, where the exco also promised to “deliver Chief Ede Dafinone at the primaries and during the election proper.”

On the entourage of the Senatorial aspirant were the chairman of Dafinone Strategy Committee, Olorogun Barr. Adelabu Bodjor, APC chieftain Chief Abel Idigu, State Publicity Secretary of the party, Barr. Valentine Onojeghuo, State Ex-Officio, Chuks Erhire, Okakuro Cosmos Ighoraye, amongst several other party supporters.

It would be recalled that Chief Ede Dafinone on Saturday, April 30, 2022, formally declared to delegates from across the eight local government areas of Delta Central, at Ughelli of his intention to contest for the Senate seat for Delta Central in the 2023 election on the platform of the APC. The event witnessed a mammoth crowd of delegates and supporters of the party.
