The Delta State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Cyril Ogodo has said that the party has aligned with the yearnings of Deltans to change the PDP-led administration in the forthcoming general election, assuring that APC’s taking over Delta State Government is not
negotiable come 2019.
Ogodo who expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness to give Deltans a fresh breath in the forthcoming general elections, stated that members of APC in the state are now focused on achieving the 2019 task.
He stated this during the maiden meeting of party’s newly-elected State Working committee, Local and Ward Chairmen and other stakeholders of the party on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at its State Secretariat in Asaba.
The State Chairman, while welcoming the APC faithfuls, said, “I want to thank you for your steadfastness and prayers for the growth of this party in Delta State. I want to thank you because; you are one of those who believe that taking over Delta Sate Government in 2019 is not negotiable.
“This is a small meeting, we are going to call a larger meeting here in Asaba and we are going to tell the Delta State Government who owns papa’s land. Our focus is on the government of Delta State, we are not focusing on people who do not want us to take over Delta State Government house in 2019.
“Our focus is on how to rescue Delta State. We want to rescue Delta because it is so clear for us to rescue. The people are yearning for change in Delta State, the people are yearning for a government of APC to come and rectify everything in Delta State. Why are we wasting time?
We must rescue Delta State.”
Continuing, Ogodo berated the PDP administration for unleashing sufferings on Deltans, stressing that workers in the state have been denied their salaries which have made them become preys in the hands of harsh money lenders.
“There are no good roads in the state, our communities do not have water, no light, no security and the payment of salaries is a forgotten conclusion as the workers in Delta State have already mastered money-lending.”
He added that the payment of salaries for workers in the local governments and DESOPADEC have been frustrated as they no longer get the needed allocations from the Delta State Government.
He further hinted that the road projects being commissioned by the PDP government were projects executed by NDDC and other interventionist agencies which he asked them to go and verify.
“My members, please let us be focused, we have to be focused because we want to take over government in Delta State. Everything that will give us the government are all very clear. I learnt that they are hurrying to commission roads already done by the NDDC in Delta State. In Sapele,
all the roads that were constructed by NDDC, they are going there to take pictures of them to put on Facebook and others to say that these are the roads they have constructed. If you see any road going on today in Delta State, it is either done by NDDC or roads constructed by the Niger Delta Ministry. The Delta State Government is not doing anything concerning the construction of roads in the State.”
In the same vein, the Leader of APC in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor in his address, appreciated all those who stood in solidarity with party throughout the congresses and commended party faithfuls for building a formidable APC in the State ahead of the 2019 general
elections.
“I want to congratulate APC Delta State, the State Chairman and the State Working Committee that APC is strong and standing firmly in Delta State. I want to congratulate you for going through the rigor of the congresses in the State; from the ward to the local government and then
to the State Government.”
He assured the party faithfuls that the new National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a man who, over the years fought for justice, and will not support any fraudulent activities, adding the consent judgment “fraudulently obtained by the other faction will not
stand.”
Emerhor, while speaking to the party leaders, hailed the efforts of the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu for his reconciliatory efforts in ensuring a united APC in Delta State, just as he expressed displeasure at the negative parade by the Omo-Agege/Ogboru
group.
He however assured that the new leadership of APC in the state will intensify efforts to reconcile all warring parties to the larger fold in order to build a formidable force to take over government come 2019.
High point of the meeting was the setting up committees to stir the next phase of the party which include, the Political Contact Committee, Reconciliation and Outreach Committee, Political and Strategy Team, Legal Matters Coordinating Committee, and Media and Political Awareness Committee.
