Elders, leaders and other stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta Central Senatorial District, have passed an implicit vote of confidence on the former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for his utter commitment to the victory of the party in the state.

The decision was contained in a 9-point communique signed by these party stalwarts after a general meeting held in Ughelli Monday.

Delta APC Reaffirms Trust In Omo-Agege

The party expressed dismay at the spurious allegations hauled against one of the state’s most distinguished patriots and party leader, Senator Omo-Agege,especially the calumny thathe worked against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the presidential election of February 25, 2023.

The party leaders averred that the allegations were not only a bunch of falsehood and lies from the pit of hell, but a deliberate attempt to discredit a man who put in all he had to ensure victory for the President in Delta State.

According to the party chieftains, Senator Omo-Agege in collaboration with the State Exco set up a joint campaign Council tagged Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council, which conscientiously campaigned for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and worked towards the success of the party in the presidential election.

In a statement reaffirming it’s support for the hardworking senator, the APC leaders in the state noted how much he contributed to the success of the party.

“The APC Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders in Delta Central reviewed the recent happenings in the party and resolved as follows:

“That the false allegations being peddled and perpetrated by some mischievous persons that His Excellency Senator Omo Agege CFR worked against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have no basis at all as they are lies from the pit of hell and we hereby strongly condemned it in clear terms.

“That the Joint Campaign Council set up in Delta State by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and the Party State Exco conscientiously campaigned for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and worked towards the success of the party in the presidential election. Indeed, the State Campaign Council was tagged “Presidential/Gubernatorial Campaign Council,” the communique stated.

The party faithfuls further recalled that Delta State delegates for the party presidential primary which held at Eagle Square, Abuja and voted en masse for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in obedience to the strict instructions of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

It went further to recall the one-million-man march for President Tinubu which was single-handedly sponsored by Senator Omo-Agege in Effurun and Warri on the 22nd of October, 2022 which was coordinated by Chief Ominimini Obiuwevwi.

The communique noted the joint visit of the Senator and President Tinubu to the Presidential Campaign flag-off at the Warri Stadium which was filled to full capacity and the visit of the duo to Gbaramatu kingdom during the campaign.

The party faithfuls also recalled the visits of Senator Omo-Agege to various IDP camps across the State to deliver relief materials on behalf of President Tinubu, adding that the Senator also used the occasion to campaign for President Tinubu.

“We are all witnesses to the joint visits of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Warri Stadium and Gbaramatu kingdom during the flag-off of the Presidential Campaign in Delta State. In fact, without mincing words, the stadium was filled beyond its maximum capacity. This was as a result of the hard work of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

“It is also on record that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege effectively represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to visit the flood displaced persons to deliver relief materials in IDP camps across the state where he also campaigned vigorously for him”, the communique noted.

They also recalled the contributions of other candidates of the party to the campaign for President Tinubu, stating that they campaigned vigorously under the leadership of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

“It should also be emphasized that all APC candidates including Senator Ede Dafinone representing Delta Central, Senator Joel Onowakpo-Thomas representing Delta South, Hon. Francis Waive and all APC House of Assembly members campaigned vigorously for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the leadership of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege which made it possible for the party to win two out of the three senatorial seats in Delta State”, the communique highlighted.

The party stakeholders therefore strongly condemned the campaign of calumny targeted at the person of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, calling on the general public to discountenance it.

“In view of the above, it was strongly concluded that the allegations being perpetrated by disgruntled elements who could not even win their units, and who are sponsored by non-committed APC members and some opposition parties against the personalities of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in Delta State, is a mere fallacy, untrue and therefore should be discountenanced and trashed. It was an attempt to run Senator Ovie Omo-Agege down after committing his integrity, efforts and finances to make sure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the election”, it noted.

They used the occasion to pass a vote of confidence on Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whom they congratulated on his recent election as the chairman of ECOWAS.

“Arising from all the above-stated facts which are verifiable, we the Delta Central APC Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders hereby pass a vote of implicit confidence on Senator Ovie Omo-Agege CFR.

“We equally want to put it on record that the Delta Central APC Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders are very impressed with his policy decisions and the leadership quality displayed so far by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and therefore passed a vote of confidence on him on his exemplary leadership since he assumed office as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We also use this medium to congratulate him on his new role as the Chairman of ECOWAS”.

The communique was signed by 80 party faithfuls from the eight Local Government Areas of Delta Central Senatorial District including Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, Chief Morrison Olori (who hosted the meeting), Chief Prof. S.W. Ibodje, Chief Tuesday Onoge,Chief Francis Efeduma and Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi amongst others.
