The Delta State chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Prophet Jones Erhue has admonished party leaders and faithfuls to learn to respect party procedures and constitution in order not to create crisis in the party.

Erhue who reacted to previous publication alleging a looming crisis in the party, following the stakeholders meeting convened by Chief Hyacinth Enuha, stated that no leader or leaders have a right to summon a stakeholders meeting of the party without the approval of the state party organs.

In a press statement he signed and issued from his medical vacation abroad, the party chairman enjoined leaders of the party to do all within their powers to nurture and help to preserve the unity and peace in the party.

According to him; “I want to expressly state that the authority to call a stakeholders meeting in the name of APC is a prerogative of the party organs at all levels. Therefore, no leader or leaders have a right to summon a stakeholders meeting of the party. Only party organs at the units, wards, LGAs and State have the authority to summon or convene stakeholders’ meetings.”

The statement added also that this, “shall serve as a notice to all leaders to desist from summoning stakeholders’ meetings. Any person or leader who, henceforth, disregards this directive shall face the full force of disciplinary actions as prescribed in the party constitution.”

While cautioning against alleged plot by some party leaders to petition the presidency, over an alleged hijack of projects slated for Delta state by some persons, he charged them to explore internal mechanism of dispute resolution in the party.

“No individual or leader or leaders or pressure groups are entitled to take the law into their hands and write petition or petitions against APC government appointees from the state. All APC government appointees from the state hold their positions in trust for the state party. Any grievances against anyone of them must be directed to the party which shall take such up with the appointee. No leader or leaders or pressure groups shall take the internal issues of Delta APC to leaders and others government appointees or national party officials without passing through the internal processes of the State Exco.

“On the current matter on ground, I shall immediately reach out to Chief Hyacinth Enuha to immediately discontinue his self-help stance and resort to the internal processes of the state party. No one is to further summon an APC stakeholders meeting on this matter or continue to take any further action on the matter.

“The State Exco shall also be reaching out urgently to all APC federal government appointees from Delta State for the purpose of having them account for their stewardship as appointees from the state and seeking their hands in empowerment of our party members. Where it becomes necessary to take on our appointees for neglect or any other offence, it will be the party that will act and not individuals.” He added.
