The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Delta State has warned its members against attending a meeting purportedly fixed for Monday by some renegade members who claimed to be NNPP leaders in the State.
In a press statement signed and issued by the Delta State Chairman of the APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie, the party barred members of the party from attending the meeting fixed for Sunday April 24, 2022 with the notice tagged: “NNPP DELTA STATE APC LEADERSHIP, COUNCIL SUPPORT GROUP MEETS” and signed by the trio of Barr. Silas Buowe, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh and Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru.
It stated: “The attention of the All Progressives Congress APC, Delta State, has been drawn to a most strange and highly irregular notice for a meeting called for Sunday, 24th April, 2022, tagged “NNPP DELTA STATE APC LEADERSHIP, COUNCIL SUPPORT GROUP MEETS” and purportedly signed by the trio of Barr. Silas Buowe, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh and Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru.
“In addition, the rather perplexing notice purported to be inviting State Exco Members; LGA Chairmen; LGA Secretaries; LGA Treasurers; LGA Women Leaders; LGA Youth Leaders; notable leaders from each of the local government areas; 2019 presidential/gubernatorial campaign coordinators; and, aspirants into various elective offices for the 2023 General Elections to the said meeting.
“The All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State, hereby completely and comprehensively repudiates the entire group, its meeting and indeed any and all of its activities.
“There is no such body known to the APC as “NNPP Delta State APC” and, indeed, there is no such body known to law, for that matter!
“Therefore, the so-called “NNPP Delta State APC” is, as such, to be deemed by all APC members and the general public as a patently illegal body.
“Ironically, the authentic Delta State NNPP, on its part, appears to have dissociated itself from the group, having instructed its members not to attend its meeting.
“The All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State, hereby bans each and everyone of its members from attending the aforesaid meeting of the so-called “NNPP Delta State APC” or participating in any of the activities of this unknown association.
“In addition to banning any APC member from attending the meeting, the party hereby specifically bans each and everyone in the categories of those the conveners of the said meeting particularly listed as invitees.
“For the avoidance of any and all doubt, anyone attending the said meeting or, even as much as being seen close to the venue of such meeting would be deemed as having, by such highly disloyal, irresponsible and rascally conduct, decamped from the APC to the NNPP”, the stated declared.
The APC further pronounced a dire consequences for members who would attend the meeting in spite of the warning, adding that such disobedience would amount to anti-party and that the membership of such persons would not only be repudiated, but forfeit all rights and privileges accruable to him.
“Indeed, any such person, in consequence of the orchestration of, and, or participation in such grossly intolerable anti-party activity, would be deemed to have repudiated his or her membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and forfeited all the rights and privileges pertaining thereto.
“Any aspirant or party member aspiring to fly the APC’s flag in any of the forthcoming elections would only be shooting themselves in the foot and be deemed to have forfeited any chance they ever had in the APC.
“The All Progressives Congress, APC, is not a party of political prostitutes neither will the Delta State chapter of our great party tolerate any form of disloyalty, lukewarmness, ambivalence, or lack of commitment from any of its members.
“The All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State, is a renewed party, presently under new, focused and determined leadership, whose political philosophy is anchored on steadfast forthrightness, unwavering commitment, unalloyed loyalty and unquestionable fidelity to the party.
“In short, there is absolutely no room for any form of political prostitution in Delta APC.”, the party further said.
The party urged it’s members across the State “to remain focused and undistracted as we earnestly enter into the present period of intense internal processes as earlier mandated by the National Executive Committee of our great party at its last meeting in Abuja.”
Meanwhile, the leadership of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, in the State has dissociated itself from the purported proposed meeting.
In a statement issued and signed by the State Secretary, Chief Edward Ofomona, it noted the circulation of such invitation notice, adding that it dissociated itself from it as it did not emanate from the leadership of the NNPP party in the state.
The statement reads partly: “We have come across an invitation for a meeting involving all categories of Executive, both in the State and local Government Exco of our great Party slated for Sunday, 24th April, 2022 at DELSU Abraka Delta State.
“This meeting invitation is signed by Hon Barr. Silas Buowe, Hon Dr. Cairo Ojougboh and Chief Great Ogboru as conveners.
“Please, be informed that the duly elected Delta State Exco headed by Chief Efe Tobor as Chairman and Chief Edward Ofomona as Secretary hereby dissociate from the purported meeting and directs all Exco and members to ignore this meeting as only the duly elected State Exco led by Chief Efe Tobor can call for a meeting of this nature.
“Please, you are advised to disregard this meeting and go about your normal duties. Always get clarification from the State Exco led by Chief Efe Tobor before attending any meeting called in the name of NNPP.”
