Nigerian singer D’banj appears to have gotten himself involved in a fresh drama amidst an ongoing sexual abuse scandal that attracted to him strong bashing on social media.
Just recently, an individual identified as @I_Am_Ilemona on Twitter, posted a video that captured the moment the singer was performing at an event and also posing for photographs with excited female fans.
@I_Am_Ilemona claimed that the singer flew all the way from Lagos to Abuja for a private party. He added that the singer flouted all the standing coronavirus protocols.
Apparently people flew D’Banj in from Lagos for a party in Abuja last night. All the coronavirus protocols flouted,” @I_Am_Ilemona caption read.
In a different post, the Twitter user noted that this is happening at a time when the singer is in the news for a sexual-abuse scandal.
Watch the clip below:
Reacting to the video, one user noted that the singer was already in Abuja for questioning regarding his rape case.
He said:Â “I doubt he was flown in for the party in particular ..Dude was already in town prior, to answer to the Police as per his rape case. This looks more like he just stopped by or made an appearance as per he’s in town.”
Others who reacted to the clip berated the ladies who were spotted flocking around the entertainer.
One user said:Â “See all the ladies tweeting “We’re here for you, Seyitan” kiki-ing beside him. We can not even agree and unite for a cause in this country, not for a minute!”
It would be recalled that Mohammed Adamu, the inspector-general of police, had recently ordered a probe into the case after which D’banj was flown to Abuja and interrogated by Adaku Anya, an assistant police commissioner.
The event was said to have taken place on Saturday, despite social distancing guidelines issued by the federal government to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
D’banj’s new stunt comes after Naira Marley, a controversial singer, similarly staged a concert that violated the federal government’s directives on physical distancing protocols.
This development is also coming on the heels of the singer’s detention alongside Funke Akindele after the latter hosted a party which the former had attended, despite Lagos state government’s lockdown measures at the time.
