Colonel-Dasuki-Sambo-1The former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki has been granted permission by a Federal high Court sitting in Abuja to travel abroad for medical check-up pending the commencement of his trial.  Dasuki is facing a five-count charge bordering on alleged illegal possession of firearms and money laundering.
Delivering ruling on the application filed by Dasuki, Justice Adeniyi Ademola granted the former NSA a period of three weeks to take care of his health.Racall that the court had on September 1, granted the embattled former NSA bail on self-recognition after he deposited his international passport. In an application Dasuki moved through his lawyer, Mr. J. B. Daudu (SAN), yesterday, he urged trial Justice Ademola Adeniyi to order the release of the travelling documents he surrendered to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the High Court.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola ordered the court registrar to release the travel documents of the former NSA, upon the perfection of the terms attached to an order to that effect.

The trial judge who had earlier granted bail to Dasuki on self-recognition had given some terms which varied the bail conditions as including  a surety, who will write an undertaking to produce the accused person on the next adjourned date.

Justice Ademola also said that the surety should be ready to take the position of the accused in case the former NSA refuses to appear to answer charges proffered against him.

In the alternative Justice Ademola ordered any of the senior counsel to the accused person to sign an undertaking to take his place, before the international passport of the accused is released. Trial has been adjourned till November 26 and 27, 2015.
