President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the spate of calamity that happened both in Abuja and Anambra early this morning.

Tinubu has, therefore, cancelled all his official events in Lagos today in honour of the stampede victims in Abuja and Anambra state.

The New Diplomat had reported how ten people, including children, died in a stampede that occurred at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja while an unconfirmed number of residents of Okija community in Anambra lost their lives in a stampede during an event for the distribution of rice on Saturday morning.

Security agents had dispersed crowd at the venue of the Abuja stampede and the event suspended.

Updates about the other event in Anambra were sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
