The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone has extended heartfelt condolences to the Okitiakpe family, Ekakpamre community, and Urhobo Nation on the passing of Delta State-born elder statesman, Olorogun Patrick Okpako Okitiakpe, who passed on Monday, 22nd January 2024, at the age of 86.

The lawmaker representing Delta Central Senatorial zone noted that the death of Elder Okitiakpe is not only a big loss to his family, and the Ekakpamre community of Ughelli South local government, but to the Urhobo Nation, adding that the vacuum created by his death will be difficult to fill.

He stated further that Elder Okitiakpe’s contributions to the Urhobo Nation and Delta State through his many businesses were immeasurable, leaving an indelible mark through his dedication, wisdom, and selfless service. Senator Dafinone acknowledges the immense loss felt by the Okitiakpe family, friends, and the entire community.

In a statement, Senator Dafinone remarked: “Elder Okitiakpe’s legacy is woven into the fabric of our community. His unwavering commitment to the betterment of society, coupled with his kindness, leaves a lasting impression. We join the Okitiakpe family in mourning the passing of a respected elder and industrialist in Urhobo Nation.”

As the Okitiakpe family navigates this difficult time, Dafinone said he offers his support and stands in solidarity with them. The Senator further encouraged the Ekakpamre community to join the family to celebrate Elder Okitiakpe’s remarkable life and legacy.
He added:
“On behalf of my family and the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, we commiserate with the Okitiakpe family over the passing of Olorogun Patrick Okpako Okitiakpe, a successful businessman, community leader, and an elder statesman.

“At times like this, our prayers and thoughts are with the Okitiakpe’s. Olorogun Okitiakpe’s life was that of service to his community, the Urhobo Nation, and humanity.

“Our prayers are that the family finds the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and take solace in the fact that Papa lived a worthy and impactful life.”
