The apex body of all Yoruba interests groups in Nigeria and in the Diaspora, Igbimo Apapo Yoruba Lagbaye, (Yoruba Council Worldwide), has appauled President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent order to the military troops, asking them to renew onslaught against the bandits.

The group in its reaction stated that the directive is a welcome idea especially at a moment many parts of the country are witnessing incessant attacks from bandits.

The New Diplomat had reported that the President, on Saturday ordered the military troops to frontally crush the bandits who are perpetrating crime across the country.

While condemning the recent series of abduction and killings, the President urged the military to respond urgently and curb the incessant attacks being perpetrated by bandits.

The President in the statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, wants the military to respond to the bandits in a language that the bandits would understand.

Reacting to the declaration, the Yoruba Council commended Buhari for declaring war against the recalcitrant bandits who are causing havoc.

The group also called on Buhari to establish a Joint Regional Security Networks Agency, which they said will help assist in building a stronger and better community intelligence fighting support base for all security agencies among other propositions.

The group’s President, Aare (Barr.) Oladotun Hassan, stated this in a release signed by the Publicity Secretary, Otunba Gboyega Adeoye.

The statement reads, “we sincerely commend the declaration on crushing of bandits and other terrorists criminal cells across the country, precipitating our urgent appeal to the Federal Government to build a National Joint Regional Security Networks Agency to help assist in building a stronger and better community intelligence fighting support base for our security agencies.

“The Igbimo demand the establishment of a special Citizen’s Advice Bureau on Security to be managed by our Royal Fathers and Critical stakeholders within each State of the Federation.

“We love Nigeria, and believe it is highly impossible to disintegrate, no matter what,” the group affirmed.
