President Muhammadu Buhari has again ordered the military troops to frontally crush the bandits who are perpetrating crime across the country.

While condemning the recent series of abduction and killings, the President urged the military to respond urgently and curb the incessant attacks being perpetrated by bandits.

Recently, about 121 students were abducted by armed bandits from the Bethel Baptist secondary school located in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Similarly, about 136 pupils of Salihu Tanko Islamiya School, Tegina, Niger State were abducted on May 30 and they are yet to be released by their abductors.

Also, in Kebbi State, 83 students and 7 staff members of the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri are still in the bandits’ den.

However, the President in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, urged the military to take the battle to the recalcitrant bandits who are causing havoc.

The President in the statement, wants the military to respond to the bandits in a language that the bandits would understand.

Buhari said the nation’s security agencies are now working on new methods and policies that are yielding good results in many of the troubled parts of the country.

While urging the military to summon the courage required to defeat the bandits, the President also called for the support of Nigerians.

The statement reads, “President Muhammadu Buhari Saturday condemned repeated bandit killings in Zamfara and Kaduna States, urging the nation’s military to respond to the worrying situation in a language that the bandits understand.

“The President notes that the military and other security agencies are now working on new methods and policies that are yielding good results in many of the troubled parts of the country and calls for a crushing response to the killing of innocent citizens in the rural communities.

“He also avers that the nation, its military and the entire population needs to summon the courage required to defeat the bandits and terrorists.

“President Buhari condemns some politicians making utterances on security, merely seeking applause, advising them to join the ongoing genuine efforts aimed at finding lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the nation.

“He expresses the nation’s sorrow over the loss of lives, urging security agencies to do everything possible to prevent the recurrence of attacks with impunity.”
