As COVID-19 vaccine continues to generate controversy, Muslim community has been urged to shun the propaganda that the vaccination is un-Islamic or designed to reduce the populace of Muslim in the world.
Co-Founder of Interfaith Mediation Centre, Kaduna, Imam Nurain Ashafa as well as the Chief Imam of Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society, Ustaz Musbau Raji gave the advise in Kaduna on Sunday while speaking at a Step-Down training on COVID-19 for members of the society.
Ashafa said, the pandemic is not new in history of the world and there is adequate guidelines for the Muslims in the Qur’an and other Islamic texts, saying that,” vaccines are a preventive measure, and preventive measures against pandemic is allowed in Islam”.
According to him, “the Holy Kaaba in Saudi Arabia had been closed 40 times due to pandemic, epidemic and other reasons and the reason is to protect lives. Therefore, any measure taken to protect lives is welcomed in Islam.
“One of the tickets to paradise is saving lives of people. The COVID-19 pandemic is real and Prophet Muhammad has taught us how to protect ourselves. The propaganda that, COVID-19 vaccine is designed to kill us is false. Because, COVID-19 has killed more people in the western world that any Muslim nation. Therefore, we should go and take our vaccine to protect us and protect others as taught by Islam”, Ashafaa advised.
On his part, Ustaz Musbau Raji said the step down training organized in collaboration with NIFAA and Caritas Nigeria was designed to sensitize members of Al-Habibiyyah Society and selected stakeholders from the Muslim community.
He therefore enjoined Muslims to take the COVID-19 vaccines with faith in God and shun the propaganda that people who have taken the vaccine will die within a certain period.
